  • CGRC July 2019 Cookout Event

David and Becky Gaskins will be hosting the CGRC July 13th, 2019 Meeting/Cookout. The meeting is Saturday, July 13th, with a 12:00 noon start time.

Address is 617 East Cherry Street, Jesup, Georgia, 31546.

David and Becky have a 200 Gallon Red Sea Reefer mixed-reef tank that has been up and running for 1 and 1/2 year. David will do a short discussion tank husbandry
techniques including dosing/supplement’s and tank maintenance using the Trton method.

Club discussion will focus on a proposed upcoming trip to Florida Keys (Islamaorada) tentative for the month of September to support the Coral
    Restoration Foundation. Trip will involve:

    1. discussion and hands on lab work with setting up coral fragmentation's for replanting,

    2. boat trip to reef to learn processes and assist with planting new fragmentations.

This will be open to both scuba divers and mask/snorkel swimming as this will be done on shallow reef systems. Anyone interested in getting wet and
experiencing the reef ecosystems is welcome to attend. I would suggest that those considering attending have basic swimming skills, and dive mask/snorkel.
We will need to schedule with local dive center there for places on dive boat, so there will be a limited time to join up for this.

Find more information here at: https://www.coralrestoration.org/

We will open up our pool at my house for those interested in learning the basic skills involved with snorkel/fins, as well as the chance to try out some scuba
equipment experiences. If you are interested in learning more about scuba diving, we have many club members who are certified in both basic Open Water as well
as more advanced training who would be happy to explain how much fun it can be! CGRC Member George Constantino helped (4) four of our members attend certification this spring, and might be open to scheduling another scuba
club Open Water Scuba class thru Divers Den should we get a number of members who would like to do this.

To go along with this, in coordination with Divers Den in St. Mary’s, NASE Scuba Instructor George Constantino will be looking to schedule an Open Water Scuba instruction class.
We already have (2) two members interested in this class, and we need a minimum of (4) four to schedule. Divers Den has offered a very generous discount on this
class tuition, so if you or a friend is interested in getting scuba certified, there's no better time as we are right in the beginning of a great diving season
with warm and clear dive sites at the waiting!

As always, anyone interested in saltwater aquariums and Reefs are welcome to attend. Contact David at # 912-294-0912 for any information or directions.

    Happy Reefing!
